Utimaco will offer Atalla PaymentHSMaaS, one of its premier services offerings, via Platform Equinix. This solution enables customers to move payment keys and hardware security modules (HSM) workloads from on-premises to the public/private/hybrid cloud, lowering their total cost of ownership (TCO) and reducing their PCI compliance scope.

Aachen, Germany and Campbell (CA), USA, September 29, 2020 – Utimaco, a leading global provider of IT security solutions, today announced Equinix is joining Utimaco’s Partner Program. The move enhances Utimaco’s PaymentHSMaaS capabilities by providing direct access to Platform Equinix® – where leading businesses bring together and interconnect their digital infrastructure.

Utimaco will offer Atalla PaymentHSMaaS, one of its premier services offerings, via Platform Equinix. This solution enables customers to move payment keys and hardware security module (HSM) workloads from on-premises to the public/private/hybrid cloud, lowering their total cost of ownership (TCO) and reducing their PCI compliance scope. Customers also benefit from a direct connection to their applications residing inside Equinix or with any of the 2,900 cloud service providers (CSPs) on the industry-leading software-defined networking service Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric®.

HSMs are a crucial element in cryptographically securing payment transactions originating from either Cardholder Present or Cardholder Not Present environments and are a mandated component in card issuance and payment processing ecosystems. The collaboration between Utimaco and Equinix allows organizations to consume HSMs in a more effective and flexible way, enabling them to connect their payment applications to a PaymentHSM in the cloud.

“This collaboration with Equinix highlights the continued expansion of our suite of services. Until now, HSMs have traditionally been components that remain on-premises for most organizations, especially in the Banking & Financial Services sector. We look forward to helping both, Utimaco and Equinix customers, securely transition their payment applications to the cloud,” commented Eyal Worthalter, Vice President, Platform Solutions & Growth at Utimaco.

Lance Homer, Director of Business Development at Equinix, added: “Our collaboration with Utimaco is a fantastic addition to our comprehensive financial services ecosystem at Equinix. Hundreds of electronic payments firms, capital market participants and insurers bring together critical IT systems on our trusted platform and interconnect them to facilitate the operation of countless financial IT workloads. We are honored to work with Utimaco to host and offer Atalla PaymentHSMaaS. It is an exciting new opportunity for us, providing yet another reason why financial services companies should come together and interconnect at Equinix.”
